Teardown Mi 10 – A Closer Look at the contents of the Xiaomi Flagship Smartphone Components


Gadgetren – On May 8, 2020, Xiaomi officially launched the Mi 10 flagship smartphone in Indonesia. This smartphone comes with high hardware specifications and good camera capabilities.

To get a closer look at the contents of components owned by the smartphone, Xiaomi Indonesia officially held the Teardown Mi 10 online event to the media and YouTuber via the Zoom application.

The event itself was hosted by two experienced speakers from Xiaomi consisting of Andi Renreng as Product Manager of Xiaomi Indonesia and Woro Prasetio as Xiaomi Indonesia's Senior Technical Support Engineer.

In the Mi 10 Teardown event that was held virtually, Woro unpacked the components contained on the flagship smartphone. Furthermore, Andi also explained one by one the Mi 10 hardware parts that had been dismantled.

Woro began the dismantling process by removing the rear body of the Xiaomi Mi 10. Previously this body was heated first to reduce the glue adhesion. Furthermore, the rear body is released using the Suction Cup.

After successfully opening, we can see that most of the inner components of Mi 10 are coated in graphite with anti-static function. Components such as NFC and wireless charging can be seen in this section.

Xiaomi itself claims that this 30W wireless charging technology is capable of charging a battery from 0% to 100% in just 65 minutes.

Dual Speaker Components

This smartphone is equipped with dual stereo speaker support that is placed symmetrically on the top and bottom to deliver loud and balanced sound. Xiaomi said that this component consists of two super linear 1216 speakers and a speaker chamber equivalent to 1.0cc with speaker amplitudes up to 0.5mm.

This speaker configuration and layout allows Mi 10 users to get high-resolution audio experience.

Battery components

After the graphite coating is removed, we can see several components such as the motherboard and batteries of this product. On the right, you can see the Mi 10 battery with a capacity of 4,780mAh plus support for fast 30W charging both wired and wireless.

Just below the battery pack, there is an ultra-thin optical fingerprint sensor that is used to support fingerprint scanning technology under the screen (in-display fingerprint) on Mi 10. Xiaomi claims that this sensor is able to detect fingerprints responsively.

Rear camera component

After the rear camera frame is removed, we can see the four-camera module (Quad-Camera) of this flagship smartphone. Interestingly, the 108MP sensor on the module looks most prominent because it has a larger size than the other three camera sensors.

Near this module there are also several other components along with a laser autofocus module. The two components will work together with software such as AI 2.0 and Night Mode 2.0 which allows the flagship smartphone to be able to capture details clearly in a variety of conditions, both day and night.

Motherboard Components

Xiaomi said that the motherboard of this smartphone uses an L-shaped design with protective graphite and copper foil. The motherboard consists of several main components of Mi 10 such as Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 along with Wi-Fi chips, power management modules, and audio-decoding.

In addition, the motherboard is also equipped with a combination of LPDDR5 RAM technology and UFS 3.0 internal storage with fast data reading and computing. In other words, this component is the most important part in regulating the performance of Mi 10.

Front camera components

As a high-end smartphone born in 2020, the Mi 10 has a front camera with a large resolution reaching 20 MP. Not only for selfies, video calls and selfies, this camera can also be used for Face Unlock features.

LiquidCool 2.0 Cooling System

When dismantled more deeply, we can see that the Mi 10 has a LiquidCool 2.0 cooling system that is able to reach the surface of the smartphone area widely. According to Xiaomi, this cooling system is able to create a stable temperature on this device because it has various components such as large steam chambers, multi-layer graphite, and graphene stacks.

Andi Renreng as Product Manager of Xiaomi Indonesia revealed that every component in the Mi 10 is well designed to support the lifestyle needs of its users. This smartphone can also support users to easily create photographic and videographic content.

You could say the Mi 10 became a smartphone with Xiaomi's first flagship hardware specification in Indonesia. which is officially sold at prices reaching Rp 9,999,000.
